The Royal Commission is an unsafe place for children and survivors

"the Commission is tasked with trying, amongst other things, to try to work out why this all happened" Justice Peter McClellan AM
In trying to come to terms with the insanity of those who have covered up for abusers or aided and abetted that cover up in some way and of speaking the truth of those events to the Royal Commission so that it may gain an understanding of how this all came about since making my private submission to the Royal Commission I have had the ability to take some time to consider my evidence and the process of giving that as a part of my own veracity checking method. I am comfortable with what I have provided and with the few resulting issues I was able to raise in the limited time available to me.
I don't recall the name of the lady who took my submission over the phone; for me it was more important that my contact at the Royal Commission was sitting in and as she was a person I had begun to know over our few conversations and emails of the previous weeks it was initially towards her that I began to speak of my childhood as requested.
In talking with friends about the experience the first comment I find myself making is with regard to my mention of working for the Mafia while in Canada when I was around 23. In some way it has become a bit of a decider for me with regard as to how the Royal Commission may consider me and my testimony. At the time I felt that I was pushing the bounds of believability with my listener which upon reflection I feel is a good thing as a check will show that I was deported from Canada and that I had lived and worked in central British Columbia for a known member of the Mafia. A record check will provide these facts. Probably the most likely place to begin would be with the records taken at the time of my deportation.
Establishing credibility is in many ways important to me as a means of getting to the truth as to why this all happened. The truth sought by the Royal Commission.
The reviewing process I have engaged in has been as much about ensuring that my testimony was not polluted by aspects of my education as a child as I have come to learn a great deal today thanks to having instant access to more real knowledge and facts that I have time left in my life to read let alone ingest. The findings of biology, psychology, neuroscience and many others areas of research and knowledge are driving forward at an incredible pace bring insight and understanding as to what it is to be a human being. This often leaves me in awe at the ability of technology and research that we have available to us today.
On the other side of that is the thought that hopefully I will get the opportunity to give some of the evidence that I have gathered over the past 10 years of documenting as much as possible of my experience in Toowoomba as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse by Catholic clergy. My childhood abuse entails my abuse and abuse of others, it includes numerous beatings including whipping, the beating and eventual death of a 72 year old man. The theft of an inheritance and inheritances of others. The involvement of local policing and secret religious organizations, the bishop of Melbourne at the time. Those childhood times included descriptions of violence, torture, intimidation, genital mutilation, human bondage, enduring trauma, threats of and actual physical harm, life taking threats, threats of eternal punishment and perpetual pain and suffering, blackmail, bribery, fraud, deception, grooming, scapegoating, ostracism, shunning, prejudice, gossip, rumor, spying, character assassination, intimidation and the use of any aspect of a tenet of the Catholic religion to publicly humiliate, belittle, shame, coerce, intimidate and to defeat a child in an environment whose only outcome can be damage to the psyche and well being of a child leaving many with lifelong psychological scars. I felt there may be a few issues in there that the Royal Commission could look at as many of those issues were experienced by every child who was sexually abused (this was also experienced by many others unfortunately not covered by the terms of reference) in a Catholic environment and understanding the origins of many of those things becomes essential in the journey of seeking the truth as to why this all happened.
The question as to swearing on the Bible continually pops up in my thoughts and the thought of having to do so revolts me to the core. I can get over some aspects with a little ingenuity if I try. Things like the many references to the existence of Unicorns can easily be dismissed and we quite rightly do so though you are left with the thought that some people choose to swear an oath to speak the truth based on their belief that the Bible itself is truth when it obviously is not. Never the less it is there so how do I account for that fact that some may believe differently about Unicorns and does it really matter in this context. The context is the truth and the fact of the matter is that Unicorns do not and have never existed. Not a good start for the journey for truth.
According to the Bible that many choose to swear on there are numerous directives as to how to own another human being and the bile in my stomach rises a little in knowing that someone has sworn an oath to tell the truth and part of that oath is reliant on the acceptance of slavery by the religion of this person bringing the truth to the Royal Commission. The roar in my head grows louder with disgust at the moral and ethical compromises and failures evident in Biblical injunctions to kill and slaughter and to engage in genocide and to use rape and the murder of children as a means of enforcing a belief in the whole of the religion and its teachings.
The book these people are swearing an oath to the truth on provides examples and guidance including offering your daughters for gang rape to protect a guest in your house.
It is instructions like these and hundreds of other similar obscenities upon which the religious swear to tell us the truth.
To my way of thinking any book that is as vile and disgusting as this one as well as the fact that it obviously contains many unfounded myths and legends which have been shown to be false or simply fantastic beyond comprehension is permitted into the building housing the Royal Commission let alone be the book upon which ultimate truth is derived.
Quite obviously many will be outraged by the implications and will offer many arguments against what I contend here. My response to that is to rely on the best of science and psychology to point to the facts above which show that children when exposed to such an environment must and will cede to the blackmail and I contend that any argument put forward in support of its inclusion in the environs of the Royal Commission makes the Royal Commission a psychologically compromised and therefore an unsafe place for children and those who require evidence for their beliefs.
The hearing room of the Royal Commission can not provide me with a safe place free from the influence of the religion and the associated fears, fantasies and superstitions of others who abused me and many others as a child and who covered those crimes up for centuries. The Royal Commission does not provide a child safe environment nor does it provide a neutral and safe place free from the influence of the religion which was used to abuse us.
What steps will the Royal Commission take to ensure the provision of both a neutral and a safe place for the many survivors who are traumatized by the presence of a claimed holy book which advocates and instructs on specific acts of abuse of children and breaches of human rights so that survivors can feel free to speak their truth without the unfair influence of the religion which abused them is not held in esteem and respect in its hearing rooms as to do so is poison the process of seeking the truth before any of us get to speak of the crimes and the horror that we have endured.
Contact the Royal Commission and ask to have this bias to be removed so we can all speak truthfully without undue interference and discrimination..
