Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia

Your Excellency Ms Bryce,

I wrote previously on the issue of clergy and sexual abuse and the words of the Prime Minister.

I would like to formally submit the following into your hands for you to pass on to the Prime Minister. I believe an acknowledgment initially from yourself is appropriate as is an acknowledgment and an apology from the Prime Minister.

How dare you - how dare you indeed treat me like a piece of garbage to be bartered or traded off as some piece of trade goods or chattel to be handed back to my abuser simply because I had the misfortune to have against my will, against every fibre of my being had 2 things thrust on me without any input or choice from me - to have this third thing thrust on to me and on to each and every other person who had these things thrust on to them simply becomes an outrage - an outrage of indescribable proportions when I and they are treated in this way.

I demand that I and they firstly be treated as human beings, then I demand that I be treated as an Australian, simply because I was born here and that in my understanding entitles me to the same rights as anyone else here. After that you can treat me as you have done and on each occasion that you do I will demand that you apologise to me. Not only to me but to apologise to all those who have been shocked, insulted and outraged by your actions and words.

I, and I believe many others are rightly not available to you or to anyone else on this planet to have their birthrite traded off to the head of a foreign state - simply because you choose to do that. How abhorrent and disgusting, how utterly disgusting and how immoral is it that something like this can be is beyond my ability to describe at the moment.

Yes it is true that I was baptised a Catholic and it is true that I had no choice in that.
Yes it is true that I was sexually abused by a priest who also happened to be Catholic. I had no choice in that either.

In this circumstance I believe I have a choice and I also believe I have a number of rights which I choose to exercise in this regard.

It simply is not your right to pass me, simply because I am a Catholic and have been sexually abused by a Catholic priest back into the hands of the Catholic Church as you did.

Let me set you straight on a minor point - when you said you were like all Australians I simply find that to be so out of proportion and out of touch with reality that it is simply ludicrous to say that all Australians agree with you on this, they simply do not and I believe you will be surprised at just how many do not agree with you.

Now you can summon all forms of powers to act against me, you could even do as the Catholic Church does and call me crazy and have me locked up and examined and drugged by psychiatrists as a means of proving your point, however or no matter whatever you do in that regard that will simply prove nothing in this regard as that will not and can simply not change your statement, what it means and what it implies. It may however show a preparedness to use whatever is at your disposal just as the Catholic church does in its bullying in its attempts to silence myself and those others you have abandoned back to the Catholic Church, the source of our abuse.

I personally think you need a reality check and I believe further that I am entitled to an apolgy as is every Australian for your words and for every failure of this and every preceding Government, not only that, I believe each State Government who has failed to speak out against this despite their knowledge and understanding of the harm caused by such a level of abandonment. They are, and remain silent on this and stubbornly refuse to be otherwise. That silence does support your statement and all that it encompasses and that does make them complicit in this and therefore does require an acknowledgment and an apology for their tardiness also.

They, you, and you as Prime Minister of my country do I firmly believe owe an apology to each and every Australian who has been insulted by your words.

After that I hope that you, the Premiers of each State and their Attorney Generals act like people of honour and provide for me and people like me with what is rightfully ours - to be provided with the same right to justice and a fair legal process just the same as any other individual Australian is entitled to. It simply does not make a tinkers cuss of a difference who I was abused by - it is simply not your right as an individual or as the Prime Minister to hand the responsibility for any aspect of my or others abuse to anyone other than the properly constituted courts and legal system of my country. When a failure to apply that duty and obligation is perpetrated by the Prime Minister of my country I simply expect an explanation and an apology and I believe it is appropriate that I insist upon that else this error of judgment will in one brief moment dismiss all the rights fought for by our ancestors and will have been for naught, and justice will be seen to be neither served nor will it be seen to have been served. That in my opinion can be called the public rape yet again of every victim of not only clergy abuse but of sexual abuse that does and has existed whilst that abhorrent notion exists.

with regards

John A Brown
