A trauma informed inquiry would have jumped when the bishop casually used a plea to the Christian God as a way to add weight to his statement - this went through all the way unchallenged despite the fact that the Christian God has been regularly used by clergy to access and to abuse children in a variety of ways including sexual abuse? The bishop also often spoke of the welfare and wellbeing of people and the community.
If a witness stated that Thor or Mars played a role then it would be questioned with the deepest and most penetrating lines of inquiry possible while simultaneously calling for substantiated evidence to support the many claims revolving around each of those gods; in the Royal Commission it appears that the Christian God gets a get out of jail free pass and all of its claims are dutifully accepted.
It would be an open example of an inability were the Royal Commission not to investigate the use of the Christian God as a tool in the grooming and the abusing of children; else this would be one of those examples of cognitive bias that research often points to as a primary culprit or effectively that this is so deeply embedded into the culture of the Royal Commission to the extent that it considers this in a distorted way that makes this threat into something benign and beneficial.
The bishops statement when viewed from the perspective of the defenceless child would be seen as a dictate; a circumstance were they not to fulfil the wishes of the bishop could result in their instant death on this earth and the beginning of a billion plus years of exquisite torture. The Royal Commission appears to have separated itself from the position of the defenceless child and viewed the bishop's statement through whatever survival mechanism they have developed for themselves over the duration of their own lives.
A trauma informed Royal Commission will have either added this as a means to address this issue later in the proceedings where it can introduce the issue from the trauma informed perspective of the child who is on the mere mention of a word thrown into a state of fear and terror with only one avenue available for them to follow.
A Royal Commission could spent a thousand years investigating every legal transaction and would never touch on the aspect of the control that was forced into the mind of the child and that it continues on in the lives of those children as adults with psychologically trapped minds able to be switched on and of at will or random by the right person using the right words. The Universal declaration of Human Rights seeks to prevent this form of psychological entrapment through ensuring that no child should be exposed to this form of abuse as it removes any potential of self determination for the child and on throughout their life until through some fortune they are able to shed the bonds that are designed to control them,
The root of the abuses will never be found unless the Royal Commission begins to take the perspective of the victims and their trauma seriously.
